Stacy drifts from rack to rack in the tiny shop, sliding hangers, her fingertips pausing on a scrap of crimson fabric. She holds it up, smiles, then disappears into the fitting room. When she steps out, the bikini barely covers her—two triangles up top, a sliver of string below. Sunlight hits her skin as she turns, checking herself in the mirror, nipples pressing against the thin cloth. Satisfied, she pays and steps into the heat of the street. At the beach, she drops her towel on the sand, walks straight into the surf, water licking up her thighs. She glances over her shoulder once, inviting, then dives in. When she rises, droplets run down the curve of her breasts, down her stomach, pooling at the edge of that red string. She stretches out on her towel after, legs apart, letting the sun dry every inch of her. Later, she pulls a short dress over the bikini and leads us into the club. Music pulses. She leans over the bar for a drink, dress riding up just enough to show the bottom of her swimsuit. A stranger buys her a shot. She knocks it back, licks salt from her wrist, then turns to us, eyes bright, lips wet, ready for whatever comes next.
